Bio
He was born in 1971 in Leningrad, his father was a painter. When Mikhail was swimming in the sea during the storm, the lighting, that stroke nearby made him blind for a few minutes. After a shock he found, that the way he sees colors had changed.After that incident the vision of fantastic city. The creator of amazing images and sculptures, that strike the imagination. One of the leaders of conc eptual realism. The "fenomeno russo", as he was called by authoritative italian "La Republica". nearly whole time, from 1990 to 2000 Michail was working in London and in Rome. In 2001 famous sculptor decided to unite his work on the European and Russian orders. Michail Dolgopolov is an author of 35 sculptures and 5 sculpture groups, which are nowdays located in private residences in Russia and Europe. Michail uses only Italian bronze, silver, leather, of the best quality. He buys all the materials from the worlds leading auctions, but he chooses the marble blocks personally in Carrara. Besides the usual techniques, like bronze moulding, galvanoplasti cs, marble chopping, sculptor uses unique ones, like transferring the model to the leather, very hard, patented method, invented by Michail himself. This technique created the new way in art, the leather sculpture. The work on the order starts with the sketch - the computer made visualization. Oftenly costumers want the sculpture to have some facial likeness, so this is the thing for the separated conversation. After the sketch is confirmed, the model must be created in natural size. The material, that is used, is the blue Cambrian clay, (about 250 millions years old). The next step is process of forming, the gyps cast must be made. After that the sculpture is created in bronze and, after that the author makes the sculpture the perfect piece of art.
